Identity - competence and interest
Later, maybe.

I haven't gotten used to the last item of par. 8 of the Ning privacy policy yet. I certainly hesitate to submit information to a platform that collaborates freely and in unspecified ways with US based "government enforcement agencies" that have the reputation to kidnap and torture people around the globe.

It is noteworthy that the platform aims at the exclusion of the Safe Harbor agreement in its privacy policy. How did FIDIS end up here? I thought we'd know better :-)

Well... a broswer "back" butten instead of the application "back" button, and there my lengthy summary article on ICT2008 was turned into "this page is outdated".

Better write your longer pieces here in a separate text editor...

Paul Hodgson's Social trust ideas

Paul Hodgson, BT Innovate spoke on social trust. He would have com in handy on yesterday's trust debate on the PICOS session.

He stated that:

* trust emerges to contain social complexity

* trust cheaper than control

* it requires evidence to justify trust

He pointed out that virtual acts need to relate to "real meaning", implying that social trust is strongly related to identity, and thereby to the quality of electronic identifiers.

With this line of thought, social trust is based on the t… Continue

ICT2008: Trust dynamics on the PICOS sessions

The PICOS networking session on ICT2008 turned into a lengthy discussion of trust. However, from the spectator's view, discussion of trust has not advaced much lately. Audience and panel did not make a distinction between trust in systems (which the PICOS privacy designers argued for) and trust among members of a community (which the audience seemed to have in mind). With this confusion in place, the discussion spun around various of the usual suspect topics. However, towards the end of the disc… Continue

Marriage of identity management and biometrics

In this morning's networking session on trust in biometrics at ICT2008 in Lyon, the panelists and audience agreed upon the statement that biometrics and identity management must be married now.

The detailed ideas however were very different. Global ID infrastructures were suggested as well as a stringent privacy regime. The present technology innovators admitted that their biometric technology needs to be connected to a useful IDM framework which is contained in a global framework for biometric… Continue

Interesting point you raise about the identity issues raised by using the Ning platform. I have open a discussion on this subject in the forum.
