Marriage of identity management and biometrics
In this morning's networking session on trust in biometrics at ICT2008 in Lyon, the panelists and audience agreed upon the statement that biometrics and identity management must be married now.
The detailed ideas however were very different. Global ID infrastructures were suggested as well as a stringent privacy regime. The present technology innovators admitted that their biometric technology needs to be connected to a useful IDM framework which is contained in a global framework for biometrics that includes legal and privacy issues and sanctions. In particular, understanding of long-term societal and individual risks of beiometric infrastructures was suggested.
So let's make a project ;-)
